Academic Institutes in Haiti

The Haitian People is seriously deprived of useful information at all levels. Considering that a high percentage of Haitians are illiterate or semi-illiterate, disseminating useful information to the Haitian people thru print media has always been an exercise in futility. As a result, the masses of Haiti ought to be informed thru spoken and visual media in plain Haitian creole, namely thru the airwaves (radio stations) and by means of video documentaries.

Access to information, useful or not, has three main sources: popular media, academic journals, and government publications. It is safe to point out that very few if any academic journals exist or ever existed in Haiti. As a result, information that the Haitian people is exposed to is either tainted with propaganda or simply false. The only remedy is to bring verifiable, academically researched and politically independent information published by academic institutes staffed by experts and professionals.

AKOLAD - Academic Institutes for Haiti, LLC hopes to raise up to $5 millions thru crowdfunding that will finance the construction of three incubators in the Trio-City to house the prospective academic institutes. Each academic institute will cover a specific field (private banking, state banking, public education, deforestation, Haiti-US history etc...) and will produce its own print or audio-visual publications.
